2009 Oregon State Professional Photographer of the Year!

During an incredible awards dinner last night, we picked up 11 awards including 2009 Oregon State Professional Photographer of the Year. I am so honored and excited to say that, I can hardly stand it!
The field of work competing this year was amazing. There is so much talent in the state, and to be honored with these distinctions is humbling and thrilling! This was my first time entering Oregon’s print competition. I had help from many, many sources-people who have inspired me and guided me, and the clients who allowed me into their worlds to photograph what is so near and dear to them. My clients have trusted me to create their art. They have allowed me to look deep inside their hearts and photograph them in the most emotional and life-changing moments of their lives. Thank for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am honored and blessed. Without you, this would have never come to be.

So here are the overall awards:

2009 Photographer of the Year
Sweepstakes Trophy- Robert L. Ball, M. Photog Trophy
First-Time Entrant Aggregate-Gerilyn Evensen Trophy
Best Aggregate Score-Mixed Division

And here are the images and their respective awards:

Thank you so much to all who helped guide me through this incredible journey–specifically, Sam Gardner M. Photog. Cr, Bonnie Hamilton, M. Photog, and Frank Nichols. You all are some of the biggest inspirations to me and whom ANY photographer would be honored to call their mentors. And a huge thank you to my wonderful fiance, Rob. I love you so much. Thank you for your love and support. You have been my constant during these last few years as I transitioned into this new career. You are the person who means the most to me in this world and I am so glad you are by my side. This road is amazing as it is because you are there with me.

Until Next Time,

    Frank Nichols - Julia,

Congratulations again. I am so very impressed with your work, your energy and drive. I am very happy to have been a part of your work and “standing right beside you” when you took two of those images. I know that I have the very same raw images. The true tribute to you is that YOU and YOUR creativity did something with them. You are great and keep up the good work.
